The new £25million educational facility, on Priory Park Road in Kilburn, was built with many energy-saving features incorporated. It has a natural ventilation system, energy efficient lighting and a partially green plant covered roof.
EAG were contracted to provide the exterior envelope of the building utilising a mixture of high performance systems from Schüco International comprising of FW 50+ and FW60+ curtain walling, RS65 windows, SK120 sliding doors and EAG aluminium rainscreen. The four-storey block boasts various state-of-the-art features, the most noticeable being the building’s multi-coloured west façade, incorporating vertical storey height aerofoil fins and horizontal brise soliel to minimise solar gain and glare. The design, incorporating a full height atrium, maximises natural light despite the restricted site on which the building is located.
Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone opened the new centre for the College of North West London on the 31 August 2007, which now accommodates more than 2000 students on a wide range of full and part time courses.
Kilburn College is latest in the line of demanding educational projects where EAG has completed a complex multi-product cladding envelope.
