English Architectural Glazing (EAG) has scooped a top contractor safety award on one of the UK's leading regeneration sites, Gloucester Quays shopping centre.
The monthly award for the site has twice been presented by the projects Construction Director, Simon Allen to EAG's Site Managers, Rudi Pfeiffer and Ian Billson over two consecutive months.
The multi million pound regeneration site in the city centre of Gloucester is currently being crowned with its unique 'gull wing' window structure from EAG.
The multi million pound Gloucester Quays scheme is being jointly developed by Peel Holdings and British Waterways, designed by Dyer Associates and built by Bovis Lend Lease. Now the steel structures are in place EAG is soon to start the next phase of glazing and cladding, which is due to complete in December this year.
The company, which won the contract to glaze Gloucester Quays throughout, is supplying atria mall roofing, steel, gantries, and ventilation systems to the major shopping mall.
The safety award is based on maintaining and implementing safety procedures to the highest standards, method statements, the attendance at meetings and accurate and full record keeping.
The MD of Mildenhall, Suffolk based EAG, Simon Gladwin, said: "EAG prides itself on its safety record and we ensure that every aspect of health and safety is monitored and maintained. These awards are very important to EAG and I would like to thank and congratulate all our staff on the Gloucester Quays site for all their hard work and dedication which has led to these accolades."
The main shopping area roof requires 250 tonnes of steel to support the specially designed facetted gull wing shaped glazed roof with central area containing four Windcatcher units to provide ventilation to the shopping areas below.
