Seeing Through A Landmark Building

New Providence WharfOne of the most innovative building projects in Docklands has had phase one of its ambitious glass curtain walling completed by English Architectural Glazing.

One of the most innovative building projects in Docklands has had phase one of its ambitious glass curtain walling completed by leading UK firm English Architectural Glazing, based in Mildenhall, Suffolk. EAG was awarded the £3 million contract to complete the curtain walling, windows and doors to New Providence Wharf. EAG worked on the leisure club, pool, ground and first floor apartments and the 'Premier' units on the 2nd to 18th floors and the luxury penthouse apartments on levels 9 to 18.

The results have been stunning and views across London from the new multi million pound residential building are breathtaking.

EAG were granted the contract by Ballymore Properties.

The Suffolk firm used polyester powder coated aluminium systems from Schuco International for the project.

New Providence Wharf was designed by Skidmore Owings Merill and required an extensive use of glass by EAG.

This included high performance coatings to enhance thermal performance which allowed the incredible panoramic views of the Thames and across Docklands.

EAG gave a great deal of attention to the curved shape of the building which means that most apartments have spectacular views across the Thames.

Managing Director of English Architectural Glazing, Simon Gladwin said: "This has been one of the most ambitious projects for us to date.

New Providence Wharf is a quite unique and remarkable design and we were delighted to have been entrusted to carry out the work.

The shape and dynamics of the building are beautiful and we are proud to be associated with the project.

We used the latest technology in the curtain walling to ensure maximum visual benefit."

Although the design is ultra modern the land the apartment building stands on is wreathed in history.

Exactly 400 years ago a ship carrying Virginian Adventurers set sail from New Providence Wharf for the New World and a new life.

Now one of the most inspiring developments in Docklands stands as a proud symbol of British craftsmanship in the 21st Century.

In an exciting move EAG has been awarded the contract to work on the second phase of the New Providence Wharf development to provide further curtain walling and windows.

This is as a result of EAG delivering its part of the project design, manufacture and installation of phase one on time.
